Hello, so glad somebody decided to drop by and have a look. I don’t know how exciting this is going to be, if at all, but I’m embracing all things new and technological.

So I’m disco65 (keeping it all a bit anonymous for now). I’m not a nutter, honest, just a normal, 50+ mother, friend (and enemy), and soon to be undergaduate !!!!! Yes, in my wisdom, and with some encouragement from a good friend (yes you), I’ve just completed and passed a year long access course, which allowed me to apply to University to study for a 3 year undergraduate, single honors degree.

So, on 23rd September I will attend my first lecture, with many very young, very clever and very energetic, recently left 6th form kids. Thats what they are to me kids, the same age as my son, who to me is a kid. But before that happens, I have got to hand in my notice and quit my job, the job I have done for nearly 12 years, the job I have come to hate, the job that pays the mortgage, pays the bills and keeps the teenager in enough food to feed a small country. Ironically, I am a domestic assistant at the same university I am about to become a student at, responsible for cleaning the student halls of residence.

This is a huge step for me, but one I cannot wait to start. It is probably the single most terrifying thing I have done for a long time. But I am so excited as well, new adventures await, new friends to meet, new challenges to overcome and so many nights out (I hope).

Thats why I’ve decided to write a blog, to keep a record of my awfully big adventure, and to bring you along for the trip. I know it will get more exciting than this, and blog posting maybe quite sporadic until I actually start, but if I have any adventures over the summer I’ll be sure to tell you all about them.
